Everything seems to indicate that the vacations of workers in Quebec haven’t really been affected by the crisis. These are the findings of a CROP survey conducted in May on behalf of the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés.
In fact, while 14% of respondents said their vacations will be shorter this year than last year, two-thirds (66%) report they’ll be taking the same number of weeks, versus 17% who plan to take more.
An average of two and a half weeks
According to the CROP-CRHA survey, Quebec workers will take an average of 2.5 weeks of vacation between now and September. However, slightly more than one employee in ten (12%) won’t have any time off this summer and 22% will be taking a week or less. Half the survey respondents will have two (28%) to three (22%) weeks vacation, versus 24% who’ll enjoy four weeks or more.
Interestingly, among those who intend to take four weeks or more, 30% are women and 37% are among the more educated respondents.
“On the whole, these figures are very similar to findings from the last three years. So it would seem that the crisis hasn’t had much of an impact on vacation time in organizations. And that’s good news, because vacations are absolutely essential for workers to recharge their batteries. They have a positive and direct impact on health, productivity and motivation,” commented Florent Francoeur, CHRP, Ordre president and CEO.
