Vous lisez : Cupid’s arrow hits its mark among Quebec workers – Results of a CROP-ORHRI survey

With 90% of workers reporting that they like their boss, Cupid’s arrow seems to have hit its mark in the Québec workplace. These are the findings of a CROP survey carried out for the Ordre des CRHA et CRIA du Québec (ORHRI) to mark Valentine’s Day.

A “love story”…
In fact, 86% of those interviewed said that they liked their boss a lot (37%) or fairly well (49%), compared with 12% whose response was less enthusiastic – only 8% claimed they didn’t like their boss very much and a mere 4% not at all.

“That’s a good sign since we know that it’s really important for workers to appreciate their employer, particularly at a time when promoting employee loyalty has become a major challenge for all organizations. There are also a lot of positive spin-offs for organizations in terms of mobilization, well-being in the workplace and productivity,” explained Florent Francoeur, CHRP, President and CEO of the Order.

A matter of trust…
The CROP-ORHRI survey also revealed that relations between employees and their superiors are based on trust and good communications.

Some 90% of workers said they were very (56%) or fairly (34%) comfortable about clearly and directly expressing their disagreement and dissatisfaction to their superiors. What’s more, 91% of respondents agreed with their boss’s demands and close to 80% said they were satisfied with their superior’s recognition and appreciation of their work.

“These are encouraging results. But we can’t stress enough how vital it is for employers to highlight their employees’ contribution and promote communication within organizations. Such an attitude impacts on productivity, reinforces their sense of belonging and creates an atmosphere of well-being. Moreover, HR professionals are in an ideal position to help employees work towards achieving this atmosphere and maintaining it,” continued Francoeur.
